Fighting Epilepsy, Every Step of the Way
The Care & Cure Institute seeks to improve the lives of children living with epilepsy by financing the final, fellowship stage of medical training for pediatric epilepsy specialists, called epileptologists. Through this process, the Institute will increase access to treatments and doctors and create a larger pediatric epileptologist network in order to achieve the most optimal health outcomes for children with epilepsy.
About Epilepsy
ANYONE at ANYTIME can have a seizure. Epilepsy is a neurological disease that causes recurring, unprovoked seizures. 1 in 26 people will develop epilepsy in their lifetime.
35% of people with epilepsy could be seizure free with proper onset care each year, or 52,500 people
50% of people with epilepsy don’t have proper access to the care they need
70% of people with epilepsy could be seizure free with proper access to care
